Health Management Honors Leaders for Clinical Excellence

We pride ourselves on quality, so celebrating our hospitals’ quality-related achievements is important. At two recent events, Health Management honored hospitals and caregivers who exceeded high quality care standards and exemplified our Getting2Great culture. We’re proud of their dedication and commitment to patient-care excellence.

Fourth Annual National Nursing Leadership Conference Award Winners

These awards honor the Chief Nursing Officers who have helped their hospitals achieve outstanding levels of quality care.

  • Overall Nursing Excellence: Jacqueline Atkins, Williamson Memorial Hospital (Williamson, W.V.). Jacqueline’s leadership allowed her hospital to show the greatest improvement on nursing quadrant processes.
  • Most Improved Nursing Outcomes: Jennie Kostmayer, Biloxi Regional Medical Center (Biloxi, Miss.). Jennie’s dedication and hard work enabled her hospital to show the most improvement in the last six months on nursing quadrant outcomes. “We were honored to receive this award, it is a reflection of the outstanding nursing team at Biloxi Regional,” Jennie said. “It is truly an honor to work with such a dedicated and compassionate group of professionals.”
  • Most Improved Nursing Processes: Cindy Slaydon, Sparks Health System (Fort Smith, Ark.). Cindy’s efforts allowed her hospital to be consistently in green for nursing quadrant processes and outcomes. “This award is truly a reflection of our team, all of the servant leaders who are committed to quality and are passionate about patient care,” said Cindy. “I am honored to work with this group and honored to receive the award on their behalf.”
  • Hummingbird Award: Melissa Samuelson, Stringfellow Memorial Hospital (Anniston, Ala.). The love, joy and happiness that Melissa brings to her role earned her this award. “I am very honored to have been chosen for this award,” said Melissa. “The foundation of this award–love, joy and happiness–is the key to my personal and professional success in nursing. I am proud to be a nurse and look forward to continued growth in this most trusted profession.”
  • Fleur de Lis Award (In honor of Brad Jones): Mary Anderson, East Georgia Regional Medical Center (Statesboro, Ga.). Mary was honored for her strength, faith and courage that she exhibits each day. “I am very honored to receive the Fleur de Lis Award,” Mary said. “This award represents living the pillars of strength: good morals and manners, earnestness, reputation and responsibility, doing the right thing, loyalty and keeping your good name in all your actions. Brad Jones, for whom this award was named, was a mentor and pillar of strength to me as he truly lived the meaning of this award.”

Third Annual National Clinical Affairs Symposium Award Winners

These awards honor hospitals’ performance achievements based on a series of objective, measurable criteria.

  • Overall Gold Award: Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center (Paintsville, Ky.) received this award in recognition of its highest sustained and consistent performance excellence across all metrics.
  • Overall Silver Award: Stringfellow Memorial Hospital (Anniston, Ala.) received this award in recognition of its achievement as most improved performance excellence across all metrics.
  • Bronze Emergency Services: Chester Regional Medical Center (Chester, S.C.) received this award in recognition of its overall best performance in emergency services.
  • Bronze Resource Management: Spring Hill Regional Hospital (Spring Hill, Fla.) received this award in recognition of its overall best performance in resource management.
  • Bronze Patient Safety: Natchez Community Hospital (Natchez, Miss.) received this award in recognition of overall best performance in patient safety.
  • Bronze Core Measures: Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center (Paintsville, Ky.) received this award in recognition of overall best performance in core measures.

Last but not least, Greg Kerr, Director of HIPAA Compliance for Health Management, received the Pearl Award in recognition of his efforts. The pearl signifies the passion, teamwork and accountability one displays in working with the Clinical Affairs Department for the betterment of the care we provide to our patients.
