Local Awards and Accomplishments

As 2011 comes to a close, there are so many achievements we can look back on with pride. In our quest to become great, we continue to improve in all aspects of our business, and our notable achievements show we are well on our way.

Santa Rosa Medical Center (Milton, Fla.) was among a distinguished, elite class of performers that achieved an extraordinary 100 percent on all core measures for an entire year of public reporting. Congratulations to the leadership, Associates and physicians who made this extraordinary achievement possible.

Heart of Florida_ImageHeart of Florida Regional Medical Center (Davenport, Fla.) recently recognized 92 of its Associates for long-term service — including Kanchana Sureephong, who was recognized for 20 years of service. The awards banquet was held at the Omni Resort in Champions Gate, and honorees were presented with service pins and gifts for the most senior Associates.

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (Hartsville, S.C.) was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in digital mammography from the American College of Radiology. The hospital’s Radiology Department also received a perfect score on its recent Federal Mammography Quality Standards Act inspection by the S.C. Dept. of Health and Environmental Control. As a result, Carolina Pines Regional is eligible to continue in the state’s Best Chance Network, a program that provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings to women ages 47 to 64 who meet certain income requirements.

In November, Lancaster Regional Medical Center (Lancaster, Penn.) received the Corporate Excellence Award from the AmericanLancasterACSAwardPhoto Cancer Society, East Central Division. Brant Woodward and Dee Mathis of the American Cancer Society presented the award to Lancaster Regional CEO Bob Moore and Board of Trustees President John Bergey in a ceremony attended by hospital’s Board of Trustees.

For the second year in a row, Lancaster Regional’s security department was ranked among the top hospital security departments in the nation by Security Magazine in their annual “Security 500” survey. For 2011, the hospital ranked No. 1 in Pennsylvania and 26th in the nation, moving up from last year’s ranking of 34th.

Lehigh Regional Medical Center (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) received the “Jaguar Pride Award” from East Lee County High School. The hospital was recognized for its overall support of the school and sponsorship of the Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament, which brings in teams from across the state.

Tri-Lakes Medical Center (Batesville, Miss.) was named a 2011 Top Improver® Award winner by Press Ganey Associates, an award that recognizes clients who have shown continuous improvement over two years. Tri-Lakes Medical is one of 36 Press Ganey client facilities to receive this honor, and one of 18 to receive it for improvement in patient satisfaction scores

The hospital was also voted Best Hospital in Panola County in The Panolian newspaper’s Best of the Best contest.

Biloxi Regional Medical Center (Biloxi, Miss.) was named the August 2011 Business of the Month at a “Breakfast with the Mayor” event hosted by the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce. The hospital was recognized for providing the City of Biloxi with economic growth, being a strong community supporter, and actively participating in the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce.

Summit Medical Center (Van Buren, Ark.) was named a “Diamond Award” recipient by the Arkansas Hospital Association, which recognizes excellence in Arkansas hospital marketing and public relations. The award-winning article, “ER Nurse with A Mission,” was written by Stacy Caldarera, Marketing at Summit Medical, and published by the Press Argus Courier in Van Buren. The hospital was also a recipient of a Certificate of Excellence in the advertising category for the campaign “Mark Martin for ER Extra” and a Certificate of Merit for the article “Act F.A.S.T.”

In addition, three Associates at Summit Medical were recently honored with service awards: Cynthia Hogue, for 20 years in Admitting; Connie Carpenter, for 25 years in Education and Compliance; and Pam Carr for 25 years in Materials.

Three Tennova Healthcare hospitals received notable recognitions in 2011. Jefferson Memorial Hospital (Jefferson City, Tenn.) was named as one of the 100 Top Hospitals® in the nation by Thomson Reuters for the third year in a row. Turkey Creek Medical Center (Knoxville, Tenn.) and LaFollette Medical Center (LaFollette, Tenn.) were both named 2011 Top Improver® Award winners by Press Ganey Associates. The two facilities received recognition for improved Patient Satisfaction-Ambulatory Surgery. In addition, LaFollette Medical was also recognized for improved Patient Satisfaction-Outpatient.

Sparks Health System (Fort Smith, Ark.) received Chest Pain Center accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). To achieve accreditation, the hospital underwent a rigorous evaluation by SCPC for its ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.

The hospital also recognized 68 Associates for 1,925 combined years of service, including one Associate who has been with Sparks Health for 45 years!

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center (Mooresville, N.C.) received three accreditations this year: full accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, a three-year term of accreditation in nuclear medicine by the American College of Radiology, and a three-year accreditation with commendation by The American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer.

Additionally, the hospital was designated as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence program recognizes surgeons and facilities that demonstrate an unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care.
